Product Reviews for Gibson SG Standard Electric Guitar (with Case) Feature: After 35 years, some of the chrome plating on the tailpiece is flaking off, but I guess I look a bit different than I did in 1969 too! Quality: This guitar has seen me through thousands of gigs over the years with absolutly no problems. Value: I bought this guitar used from a guy that had it 6 months and then joined a band that insisted he use a Strat, so naturaly I didn't pay full price. No matter what I paid, this guitar has helped me make a living for many years, and has returned far more $ than I paid for it. Desirability: Sex appeal?, Well.......... I have never had sex with a guitar, but my SG has seen me through more than a few lonely nights on the road, and I still respected it in the morning! Sound: If you want that Fender "twang", get a strat or a tele. If you want to blow that "twang" off the stage and out of the arena, the SG is definitely the guitar to do it. I own many guitars, but if I could only keep a few, my 69 SG standard would definitely be at the top of the list Support: Never needed any. I am sure that if I ever needed support, Gibson would stand behind thier product Overall: This guitar is a lifelong commitment for me, and my son will inherit it when I am gone. Would I replace it? Only after slowly and painfully dispatching the SOB who might be stupid enough to try to steal it from me!
